Donald Ross’s masterpiece, No. 2 at Pinehurst has hosted many national opens. U.S. Open – 1999, 2005, 2014, 2024; U.S. Women’s Open 2014. Prior to a Coore and Crenshaw renovation in 2010, the course had ultimately become overgrown with wide, thick grass rough and narrow fairways. Coore and Crenshaw have restored the course to Ross’s original vision by removing irrigation, allowing the natural grasses and climate of the region to shape the course and allow it to play firm and fast. Add diabolical green complexes and #2 lives up to the hype of one of the most challenging U.S. Open venues.
